GENERAL QUARTERS NEW TO CRESTWOOD FARM FOR 2014

Multiple Grade 1 winner and millionaire General Quarters (Sky Mesa-Ecology, by Unbridled’s Song) will stand at Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm new for 2014.

Victorious in the 2009 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and the 2010 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic Stakes (G1), General Quarters earned more than $1.2 million in a stellar career on the racetrack for owner and trainer Tom McCarthy. In addition to his two Grade 1 scores, General Quarters also won the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3), placed in the Stephen Foster Handicap (G1), WinStar Kentucky Cup Stakes (G2), New Orleans Handicap (G2), and the Mineshaft Handicap (G3).

Sky Mesa’s leading earner, General Quarters broke his maiden first time out as a 2-year old going 4-1/2 furlongs, on the dirt at Churchill Downs. Precocious, sound, and versatile he won or placed in 15 of 27 starts being a Graded Stakes winner on dirt, synthetic, and turf. Winning races from 4-1/2 to 9 furlongs, he defeated eight Grade 1 winners, and registered five 100+ Beyer Figures.

General Quarters will stand at Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm in Lexington, Kentucky for $5,000 Live Foal (Payable Stands and Nurse) for 2014.
