Another graduate of Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm has been elected to the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame!

Congratulations Xtra Heat! Member of the 2015 class of the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame. Bred, Foaled, Raised and Sold by Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm. The Eclipse Award winner for Champion 3-Year-Old Filly in 2001, Xtra Heat compiled a career record of 26-5-2 from 35 starts and earnings of $2,389,635. Xtra Heat won a total of 25 stakes races, 11 of which were graded events. She registered two six-race win streaks and had two victories in the Barbara Fritchie Handicap and Endine Stakes. Xtra Heat’s wins included the Grade 1 Prioress (setting a stakes record of 1:08.26), as well as the Vagrancy and Genuine Risk handicaps and the Astarita and Beaumont stakes.

She joins Hall-of-Famer SERENA’S SONG, who was also Foaled, Raised and Sold by Crestwood Farm.

TASTE OF PARADISE 2 YO WINS STAKES TRIAL IN DEBUT

On Saturday, April 18th, a two year old son of Taste of Paradise, Taste?s Secret, won at first asking in a stakes trial qualifier race at Turf Paradise. The horse went 4-1/2 furlongs in 52.53, the fastest of all qualifiers that day in all qualifying races. He will make his next start on May 5th, in the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Spring Sales Stake.

Rachel Wall, a three year old filly by Blame out of the mare Ocean Moon, won a Maiden Special Weight going 1-1/16th miles on the dirt at Pimlico on Sunday after a debut third going short. Graham Motion trains the filly for the Buttonwood Group. Rachel Wall was an $85,000 yearling purchase by Crestwood Farm Bloodstock, LLC for Buttonwood at the Keeneland September sale. Bred, raised and sold by Stone Farm, she was broken by Webb Carroll Training Center. Congratulations to all of the connections!

CRESTWOOD GRAD ‘DONWORTH’ RUNS A GAME 2ND IN G3 LEXINGTON STAKES AT KEENELAND

Donworth, a three year old colt by Tiznow out of Temple Street, ran a game second in the $250,000 G3 Coolmore Lexington Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday. This was his Stakes debut, and just his second career start. He was coming off of an impressive debut win in a Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Park in which he was tabbed a TDN Rising Star.

The winner’s dam, who resides at Crestwood, was a $15,000 claim by trainer Brad Cox and KC Garrett Farm in 2008, and checked in second to champion Informed Decision (Monarchos) in the 2009 GI Humana Distaff S. She has a yearling filly by Scat Daddy and a Tiznow weanling colt also at the farm. Donworth himself was foaled and raised at Crestwood. Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $74,000.
